Convergent what?

Convergent technology! According to Wikipedia (pool of endless drowning information) 'technological convergence is the tendency for different technological systems to evolve towards performing similar tasks'. To break it down into ripples, convergence - is the occurrence of two or more things coming together and technology - is a human innovation that involves the generation of knowledge and processes to develop systems that solve problems and extend human capabilities. Capeesh! Now we both have a little insight, here are a few examples..

1. Apple Macbook Pro

Number one on my list of technologies is the Macbook Pro. The cradle of high performance communication tech! Followed by another of apples fruits...

2. The iPhone

I think any mobile phone these days can be categorised as a device of convergent technology. The iPhone, the first that comes to mind, is a temper tool of the communicative world. It's a form of convergent technology because it does just that - converges the likes of communication and the broad dimensions of the internet.

3. Vertigo Systems Living Surface

I found Vertigo Systems on a wild search though google. They are a German company who have developed interactive floor projections. The eye-catcher par excellence where people get actively involved. Heres a video of people using the Vertigo System technology. Innovative to the extreme!

Mercedes Benz Split View

Seems as though the Germans are yet again up to no good, making use of their highly evolved skills to model gadgets within the cars interior. Specifically, the Mercedes Benz. What this split view does is simply show different content on a screen to two people viewing from opposite angles. Which means you could catch a movie in the car and your driver will instead see a map and hopefully not be distracted.

So convergent communication is quite the exciting evolution to keep our eyes on. Sure enough consumerism is bullocks and I hate to even admit that I am contributing to its world domination, but such a domination (in our over populated and ever evolving universe) seems inevitable..
Well another blog for me done and dusted! If your head explodes with dark forebodings too, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon..
